Teaching Life

Hello All,

My name is Kory Stevens and I currently live in Cedar Springs, MI. I currently teach in Greenville, Mi, where I teach Special Education in a Center based building. This means I teach in a building for the most severe students in Montcalm County. I teach transition students, ages 18-26 with severe multiple impairments. I currently have 5 students that use a wheelchair and I have 4 students who don't. We work on our students becomming as independent as possible, learning how to effectively communicate and being safe in the community. I love my job because I'm not stuck in a classroom all day teaching out of a textbook and I feel like I am really making a difference in these kids lives. The best part of my job is that my wife teaches right next door to me. She teaches middle/high school students with severe impairments. We currently have two girls. Emma 9 and Macy 6. We also have a boy on the way! I am very excited. Looking forward to gaining more knowledge through this 8 week course.
