Padlet lesson
I intend to use this padlet to train my paraprofessionals on PECS. I went to a PD and I thought this would be a great way of training my staff on how to implement PECS in our classroom. My goal is for my staff to understand and properly implement PECS so that our students can functionally communicate. When it comes to talking about copyright with my staff I will briefly remind them that using someone else's communication board from the internet that they created and printing that off can be a copyright violation. I will instruct them that I will be the one creating all the boards for PECS. The two principles I focused on when creating this Padlet were the segmenting and pre-training principles. I thought segmenting was critical because there was alot of information for my staff to have to soak up. There are 6 steps tp PECS and I thought if i focused on the first two steps I would have more success. The other principle (pre-training) was critical because I thought sitting down, talking about the important ideas and steps before we ever involved a students was beneficial. Before this week I had no idea how many times I had broken the law in my first 3 years of teaching. I had no idea what CC-BY-SA meant or I had never used the advance search button on google. I think this week was all about being aware. Do I think I will ever get in trouble for a copyright violation at work? Probably not. That isn't the point though. The point is that I have a better grasp of how I can use multimedia during instruction and do it legally.
