Week 3
With the students that I teach visual cues are such a benefit to reinforce learning when it comes to things like daily living skills. Many of my students depend on verbal cues from staff but if we can eliminate verbal with visual cues then students will be able to become more independent. My goal for these visual cues are for my students to remember the steps to brushing teeth or washing hands. Hopefully once they have used the visual cues for an amount of time we can slowly eliminate any cues at all. What I liked about this week was combining visual and written words to assist students in learning. My students need visual, auditory and written words to maximize their ability to remember what we are learning about. For instance, I can ask my students what our lesson was about yesterday and 80 percent of the time they won't remember. I am hoping the use of some of these multimedia platforms will assist my students in being able to build on day to day lessons. I also like the meme I created because I think those type of pictures can be posted throughout my classroom to remind students and staff what the expectations of students are. The infogram would be a great tool for the parents of my students who are graduating.
